The Back Story

Creating Sustainable Minds

I am inspired by the sustainability efforts led by thoughtful and talented individuals around the world. One of my favorite examples is described by Merlin Sheldrake in his book, 'Entangled Life' where he describes how researchers are actively exploring the incredible potential of fungi to biodegrade plastics, baby diapers, and even nuclear waste. While this is still in the experimental stages, these remarkable organisms are showing evidence that they can transform waste into a flourishing ecosystem, some even producing edible oyster mushrooms from the toxins, offering a possible sustainable solution to environmental challenges.

I find this analogous to my view of brain chemistry and our *mental* carbon footprint.

Problematic and unhelpful brain chemistry depletes time, energy, resources, and precious attention- without generating helpful or reusable returns.

Good news… Positive brain chemistry logarithmically begets even MORE positive brain chemistry.   It’s real alchemy right [above] our noses!

My contribution to sustainability involves cultivating positive brain chemistry and promoting *mental* carbon neutrality through the activation of our innate biological systems.

I specialize in the thoughtful allocation of mental resources to invigorate, vitalize, and promote life.

I take a special interest in the area of attention.  How and what we pay attention to, influences the reality we experience.  I have found that enhancing attention improves the quality of life: we have more meaningful conversations, we make more thoughtful decisions, in general, many positive benefits arise with better attention.

I address the differences between the right and the left hemisphere and their contributions to attention and processing.

Since the individual hemispheres contribute different attentional actions, I find it relevant to cater to the individual hemisphere’s deficits in attention rather than treating attention as one general activity.  I perform hemispheric lateralization assessments of attention and processing and provide rehabilitation techniques for the individual hemispheres, correcting attention deficits at the hemispheric level.

It’s kinda my jam.

Jam with me.
